   Moving companies are required to provide you with the Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet. This will help you understand documents and responsibilities and explain your rights throughout the process.
2. Detect Red Flags and Fraud
   There are several red flags to watch out for in a moving company. Check out this educational video or read the list of potential red flags.
3. Ensure That Your Mover Is FMCSA Registered
   Moving companies are required to be registered with the FMCSA. To check registration call the FMCSA at (202)-366-9805 for licensing or (202)-385-2423 for insurance. Avoid moving companies that do not show U.S. DOT numbers, as these are most likely scams or rogue movers.
4. Read and Understand All Information
   From the official documents, to the estimate, order information and invoice contract, make sure you read and understand all the information. Please note: You should never sign incomplete or blank documents of any sort. If you have any additional questions in regards to such documents, contact your moving company.
5. Understand Liability
   Movers are required to offer clients standard liability coverage required by the Texas DMV, for damaged goods. Individuals can also purchase insurance from a third-party company. For other liability questions, contact your moving company.
6. Double Check Details
   It’s important to check and double check the details of your move. Confirm arrival time and other details such as your addresses, contact information or special requests.
